Hello and happy haunting season! We are now deep into my favorite time of year, and I have already made my way through several gallons of apple cider and an entire box of hot cocoa mix. Needless to say, it’s been a good month. Fred is enthralled by our new leaf blower, and loves chasing the never ending leaves around our backyard as I blow them into piles. Before we know it, I’ll be shoveling a path through the snow for him to do his business.

Fall began with a unique gig that was an absolute blast. We were invited to sing at Forge Theater Labs’ Season Reveal Party on October 13, where we got to collaborate with theater folks and enjoy delicious drinks at Novel in Portland. The Forge team talked about the podcast episodes they have planned for this season, the incredible artists they are collaborating with, and what they hope to accomplish in the future. We’re grateful to Forge Theater Labs for inviting us to be part of their event - make sure you check out the exciting episodes they have coming up!

Since that performance, we’ve been busy preparing for a few more performances coming up this fall. We’re learning new music, memorizing new formations, and still taking time to make some social media treats for you! If you follow us on Instagram and Facebook, you may have seen our Halloween themed video singing “You Put a Spell on Me” by Austin Giorgio. A huge shout-out to Amber for arranging this one for us - we learned and recorded it in under and hour and had so much fun setting the spooky vibes. If we know one thing, it’s how to harmonize with a theme!

Up next we have some exciting performances all around the greater Portland area. First, catch us in Freeport at LLBean’s Northern Lights kickoff event on Friday, November 21. We’ll be singing on Main Street and the stage in front of the hunt and fish store. More details to come! The week after that, you can find us at the tree lighting in Monument Square on November 28. We’ll be singing around 6pm - also stayed tuned for more details about that in the weeks to come! And finally, we cannot wait to sing holiday tunes on Bailey Island on December 6. Everything you need to know will be shared on our social media accounts and Events page in the near future - make sure you’re following us so you don’t miss any details!

I know there are mixed opinions out there about when you can start listening to Christmas music - for me, it’s strictly the day after Thanksgiving. Anything earlier than that is too soon. For others, it’s as soon as the leaves start to fall - they can’t get enough of the holiday tunes. Some people even celebrate Christmas in July! For the Pitches, holiday music starts with the beginning of our Fall rehearsals. We’ve been practicing for months to give you the best winter performances, and even though it’s too early for me personally to be listening to it, I have been loving rehearsals because singing holiday music is FUN!

Maine is known for its dark, cold winters, and now that we’ve hit the end of Daylight Savings Time, it can seem quite bleak for the next few months. I’m eternally grateful for this group of women I get to sing with each week, and I hope we bring you as much joy through our music as we get from singing for you. Music is such a gift, and it is best when shared with others. We can’t wait to share with you and warm each other’s hearts as we enter the chilliest time of year!
